PHILOSOPHY: We believe in a safe, secure yet stimulating environment wherein each child may experience success, thus enhancing a sense of self-worth. We believe in a developmentally appropriate education program that fosters emotional, social, and physical as well as intellectual growth. Finally, within this creative learning environment, we are committed to provide the best possible program to serve the whole child. Our role, as we see it, is to extend, reinforce and compliment a child’s home and family. We understand the value of a child’s earliest development, setting the stage for success throughout their lives.
To stimulate each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth through interest centers, conversation and exploration
To provide a safe and nurturing environment in which children are free to explore and develop at their own pace
To establish a supportive relationship with the family in order to share information and empower the parent in their crucial role
To promote professionalism and professional growth among the staff members
OakPark Preschool (OPP) offers full or half-day programs for children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age. Enrollment schedules are tailored to meet your needs. Each day your child is involved in many educational activities designed to promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Program activities are planned and posted for your review.
Providing a varied and multi-dimensional environment facilitates intellectual development. Guided by Creative Curriculum, the classroom is divided into “Interest Centers” where materials and activities are planned and grouped according to skill area, learning focus and developmental level. The children are free to choose an activity of interest to them, participate and follow through with the activity. Ample time is given for each child to fully experience a variety of activities each day.
Within time allotted for interest centers the staff plans music, dramatic play, art, literacy, math, science, fine and large muscle development, imaginative and creative activities which address each area of development. Teachers interact and guide the child to stimulate imagination and provide information at that “teachable moment”.
We believe that play is a child’s work and that, through play, a child may manipulate his environment, making decisions and discoveries that help to make sense of the world.
